Uganda Airlines to fly Cranes to Burkina Faso for AFCON qualifier

Uganda Airlines will for the second time be the national football team’s choice as they fly out to Burkina Faso’s capital Ouagadougou for their November African Cup of Nations’ qualifier group B opener.

The revelation was made by the Airline’s management on Thursday, adding that the Federation of Uganda’s Football Associations (FUFA) had already made the booking upfront.

“We are once again proud to announce that the National Team, Uganda Cranes has chosen us to fly them to Ouagadougou for the AFCON 2021 Qualifier against Burkina Faso’s Stallions on 12th November 2019.”

The team will fly with Uganda Airlines Aircraft and return on 14th November 2019 for the return leg against Malawi that will be on 17th November 2019.

According to the airline, only 30 seats have been booked ahead of the flight, meaning that fans or any other person can also book for the journey to Ougadugu, but at a rate determined by FUFA.

“This is a chartered flight and FUFA reserves the right to set ticket fares unless otherwise indicated.”

The journey to Burkina Faso will cost $1500, about Shs5.5m for a return ticket.

This is the second time the Cranes is flying with the national carrier which is also called the Crane.

In September, the Cranes flew the Crane to Nairobi for an international Friendly with the Harambe Stars, on the directives of President Museveni.

President Museveni directed all government officials, ministries and agencies to use the airline for air transport needs. The directive was contained in a cabinet memo on August 5, 2019.
