Panga wielding assailants disarm security guard to rob maize processing factory in Buloba

A group of six assailants including a woman on Tuesday night attacked a maize processing factory in Buloba, Wakiso district and disarmed a security guard, before taking off with cash and property.

According to the Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, the incident happened at Kiweesa village, Buloba parish, Wakiso Sub County in Wakiso district along the Kampala- Mityana road when five men and a woman armed with pangas and break-in equipment attacked MMACKS Investments Limited in the wee hours of the night.

“The assailants disarmed Godfrey Rwabona, a private security guard attached to Security Plus Uganda Limited who was on duty a and broke Into factory offices and robbed cash totaling to one million shillings, a  computer and mobile phones of some workers who were on duty,”Owoyesigyire said.

According to the Kampala Metropolitan police mouthpiece, the police were notified of the robbery and in quick response, they shot one thug in the right arm whereas his colleagues took off with the loot.

Owoyesigyire named the suspect who is currently undergoing treatment as Joseph Tamale, a 25-year-old Boda Boda rider and resident of Kisenyi whom he said would be detained after recuperating from the bullet wounds so as to help them in investigations.

“An SAR rifle number UG.POL 10113522 with three ammunitions belonging to the security guard was recovered from the scene. The case has been recorded under SD ref.03/09/10/2019.”
