Police arrests suspected ring leader in Nagirinya murder

Uganda Police Force has confirmed that they have arrested the sixth suspect linked to the murder of Maria Nagirinya and her driver Ronald Kitayimbwa last month.

Addressing the media in Kampala on Monday, Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson revealed that police has sufficient facts and evidence to pin the suspects.

“The team that was actively involved in this double kidnap and murder is arrested. Probably the file will go to the DPP," he said.

Enanga noted the prime suspect in this case a one Sharif Mpanga was apprehended following weeks of investigations by security personal.

Sharif Mpanga, a boda boda motorcyclist was apprehended over the weekend and prior to his arrest police had caught suspects including those who are thought to would have funded the killers.

“We now have Mpanga Sharif in our custody bringing the total suspects to six. He has been a ring leader and the major brain behind these plots,” he said.

It is suspected that Mpanga transported the killers to Nagirinya’s gate and remained on standby to offer his services in case of any emergencies and to facilitate a quick get away.

“You remember at the last briefing I told you of a bodaboda rider who facilitated the double kidnap and murder of Maria Nagirinya and Ronald Kitayimbwa when they transported the assailants to Maria’s gate. He is also the one who allegedly drove ahead up to Mukono,”he said.
