Author Twesigye writes book in 8 hour travel time from Uganda to the USA

The Chief Executive Officer of Nyaka Schools Jackson Kaguri Twesigye has urged educationists to begin writing more books to improve the country’s reading culture.

Jackson Kaguri Twesigye, while launching his latest book titled "Victory for my Village" has challenged fellow educationists to set aside budgets to encourage young people to start writing their stories early enough.

Twesigye said his book is an example of the kind of product the country can have if youth and all Ugandans are inspired from when they become literate to share their thoughts with the world.

A jubilant Twesigye described his authorial journey, "I thought that my first book 'A School for my Village' was a lot like reaching the top of Mount Kilimanjaro. With 'Victory for my Village' I feel like you have now reached top of the Mount Everest.

The authoor believes that his book will be pure inspiration for those struggling to make their mark in the world. Victory for my Village demonstrates the incredible power of faith with a lot of hard work .

Speakers like Professor Mondo Kagonyera, who also a friend of Twesigye, recalled the author's journey from twenty years ago when they first met in the United States of America.

He commended Twesigye for never giving up during the hardships he endured to the extent where he came back to Uganda to build a school for his community. He said the books are testimony that anyone can survive difficulties and emerge successfully. This is a message young people should not miss.

Kagonyera said this new book teaches many skills like such as multitasking, consistency and mentoring other people.

He commended him for going beyond speaking about his passion by penning down a book in short, easy to read chapters and arrangement that many Ugandans are likely to find appealing. He congratulated Twesigye for keeping in mind the notoriously short attention spans of his audience in the format he adopted.

Twesigye said he was inspired to write the book because he loves reading and he used the 8 hour travel time from Uganda to USA to write his book but found it difficult to find books written for the Ugandan audience by a Ugandan author.

Nyaka Schools is part of an initiative to help students get a chance at an education. Nyaka currently provides services to 43,000 HIV/AIDS orphans living in southwest Uganda. The HIV/AIDS crisis claimed millions of lives and left 1.1 million HIV/AIDS Orphans in its wake.
