Nagirinya murder: Security arrest man who masterminded the mission

Police has said that a joint security operation has arrested the prime suspect in the kidnap and subsequent murder of social worker, Maria Nagirinya and her driver Ronald Kitayimbwa last month.

In a statement released on Monday evening, the Police spokesperson, Fred Enanga said the suspect whose names he didn’t reveal was the man behind the deal to kidnap and kill the duo

“The Joint Task Team from the Police and CMI, actively investigating the double kidnap and murders of Nagirinya Maria and Ronald Kitayimbwa, finally tracked down and arrested the prime suspect who is alleged to be the plot maker. The suspect whose particulars cannot be availed at this stage worked closely with Kasolo Kopriano aka Arsenal, who was the team leader,”Enanga said.

The Police publicist said the suspect is being interrogated to corroborate his evidence with that given by the four suspects arrested earlier and also establish the motive of the kidnap.

The four suspects arrested earlier told interrogators that they were paid shs130,000 each to carry out the mission by someone but according to Enanga, investigations will help them find out the exact person who funded the missio.

Two boda boda riders on the run

According to Enanga, security is also looking for two boda boda riders who are still on the run but are believed to have played a crucial role in the double kidnap and subsequent murder early last month.

“We are, however, still hunting for two other bodaboda riders; one who facilitated the process by transporting the suspects, to the scene of kidnap and it is also believed, rode up to Takajjunge in Mukono, where he allegedly surveilled the murder scene, before giving a signal to the team leader, Kasolo Kopriano,”the police mouthpiece said.

He added that the other boda boda rider who is on the run also rode to the gate of the deceased home but withdrew immediately.

On the night of August 28, unidentified men grabbed driver Ronald Kitayimbwa and Nagirinya, a former employee of Community Integrated Development Initiative, an NGO from her at her gate in Busega Lungujja before their bodies were later found in Mukono.

Last week, four people including  Coprian Kasolo, also known as Arsenal,27, Lubega Johnson aka Etoo,20, Nasif Kalyango,20 and Hassan Kisekka, 29 both boda boda riders were arraigned before the Nateete grade one magistrates court and charged with seven counts of kidnap, murder and robbery.
