Nagirinya murder: Police says investigation is progressing well

The Uganda Police has said they are making headway in the investigation of the double kidnap and murder of Maria Nagirinya, a social worker and her driver, Ronald Kitayimbwa last month.

Five people have been arrested so far and two of them are boda boda cyclists.

Addressing journalists today, Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson said one of the key suspects is still on the run.

Last week, Enanga said, the police working with CMI arrested a one Cipriano Kasolo.

Kasolo is said to have been one of the architects of the plot.

According to their investigations three cyclists are said to have had a role in the murder.

One of the cyclists is said to have travelled to Mukono to make a survey and confirm where the bodies of the victims were to be dumped.

Last week some of the suspects were in arraigned in court and charged with murder, kidnap and aggravated robbery among other charges.

Relatedly the police have also arrested some suspects in the murder of Joshua Nteyireho and Merina Tumukunde along the Entebbe Express way last month.

Enanga was however tight lipped and could not reveal the identity of the suspects.

Enanga said police is also investigating the circumstances under which a Kyambogo student was shot dead by a security guard yesterday.
