Hoima DPC transferred hours to parliamentary polls

The Inspector  General of Police, Martin Okoth Ochola has transferred Hoima District Police Commander, Christopher Katumba a few hours to the district Woman Member of Parliament elections.

According to a message dated September 25, signed by the new Police Human Resource Director, Col.Jesse Kamunanwire, Katumba has been transferred to the Environmental Protection Police Unit and has been replaced by Martin Okoyo, who has been the Mubende District Police Commander.

The transfer came only hours to the highly contested district woman MP polls to replace the seat that fell vacant after the incumbent MP Tophas Kaahwa resigned her post to stand for a similar post in the newly created Kikuube district.

The highly contested race is between Forum for Democratic Change’s Asinasi Nyakato and ruling National Resistance Movement‘s Harriet Businge.

The campaigns have seen several NRM big shots led by President Museveni canvass votes for Businge, whereas opposition bigwigs including Dr.Kizza Besigye(FDC) and Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine have also campaigned for Asinasi Nyakato in a bid to win the polls.

A total of 143,273 voters will take part in the Hoima Woman Member of Parliament polls that have already kicked off.
