Mirundi refuses to discuss Mwenda on his program, protests by marching off set (video)

Presidential advisor on media issues Joseph Tamale Mirundi on Tuesday turned indifferent when the name of veteran journalist Andrew Mwenda was mentioned on his talk show on NBS TV.

Tamale who features on the show every Tuesday morning was left angry when his host Bashir Kazibwe introduced a topic to discuss Andrew Mwenda.

Ironically, Mirundi started by referring to Mwenda whom he said caused his permanent and deliberate absence from meetings between President Museveni and his advisors.

“From the time President Museveni brought Andrew Mwenda to advisors’’ meetings, I decided not to step in those meetings again. No one will ever find me there,” Mirundi said.

In reply, Kazibwe asked that they discuss Mwenda’s exit from President Kagame’s advisory council.

“Now that you have talked about Mwenda, let us discuss….” Kazibwe did not finish his statement when Tamale Mirundi shouted at him; “No, I am not going to discuss this, let me leave, I will return when you are through with talking about Mwenda,” Mirundi said as he walked out of the studio.

However, he returned to the set on the promise from his host that they would not discuss Mwenda. He then blocked his ears for the rest of the time Kazibwe talked about Mwenda.
