The Korean Taekwondo master Juang Hunlee who also doubles as the event organizer said that little girls and boys have potential to represent Uganda in international events.

“These little girls and some senior men have potential. I noted their names down and I think if they train more they can go for international games like All Africa Games and Olympics,” Hunlee said.

Uganda was one of the very first countries to practice Taekwondo in Africa, with Ivory Coast and Egypt.

The Korean martial art was introduced in Uganda in 1969 when Master Nam Suk Kim from South Korea was invited to teach self-defence techniques to officers and men of Uganda Prisons.
