One year after his death, Kirumira's family is still waiting for government help

The family of the former Buyende DPC, the late ASP Muhammad Kirumira has called for more government support and investigations into the death of their son.

Yesterday (September 8) marked one year since Kirumira was murdered by assassins near his home in Bulenga.

On Sunday, the family organised special prayers (Dua) at their ancestral home at Mpambire, Mpigi district.

Abubaker Kawooya, Kirumira’s father, said he has sought for assistance from government but he has not been successful.

Kawooya said President Museveni promised to support to the family but unfortunately he has not yet received any help.

“I have not yet got any assistance from President Museveni although he promised me. I talked to him and he promised me... maybe he is still busy,” he said.

He said his son died leaving behind young kids who need support.

“Kirumira died leaving these kids when they are still very young and there are other children in Entebbe. I have failed to look after them due to lack of finances, “he said.

He also asked police to speed up investigations into the death of his son so that perpetrators are brought to book.

Sarah Nakimbowa Kirumira’s widow also asked government to extend some help to them.

She narrated that in a scenario where the child is child sick and the landlord is demanding for the rent, life becomes complicated.

The Member of Parliament Kawempe North Latif Ssebaggala lashed out at government for failure to produce even a single convincing report about the murders in the country.

"The way how Kirumira was murdered we thought the government is going to act but it has failed We have seen similar murders but we have not got any convincing report in as far as the killers are concerned,” he said.
