Micho guides Zamalek to 27th Egyptian Cup after walloping Desabre’s Pyramids

The Serbian Wolf, Micho Milutin Sredjovic won bragging rights among the two immediate past Uganda Cranes coaches when his Zamalek Sports Club beat Sebastien Desabre’s Pyramids FC in the Egyptian Cup on Sunday evening.

Prior to the Sunday game, Micho’s Zamalek were the defending champions whereas Desabre’s Pyramids had reached the finals for the first time in their lifetime.

The Sunday game was therefore a contest for bragging rights for former Cranes coaches who have just been appointed to their respective jobs in Egypt.

The end to end game played at the Borg El Arab Stadium saw the first stanza end all square but things turned against Pyramids after recess.

In the second half, the Serbian Wolf proved he meant business when his team took the lead only six minutes after recess.

Youssef Obama gave Zamalek the lead when he capitalized on a Mahmoud Shikabala through pass to tap in the ball past the Pyramid goalkeeper.

Ten minutes later, the defending champions doubled their lead through an Achraf Bencharki header, before the Moroccan took the game beyond reach with Zamalek’s third goal in the 83rd minute.

The game ended 3nil in favour of Micho’s Zamalek and ensured they won their 27th Egyptian Cup.
