Police deploy at Mulago Mortuary as Nteireho’s body becomes subject of family ‘war’

Police have deployed at Mulago hospital to thwart a pending confrontation between two sides of Joshua Nteireho, who was shot along the Entebbe expressway on Thursday night.

Nteireho was shot together with a one Merina Tumukunde by yet to be identified people. However, following his death, his paternal and maternal families have failed to agree over where to bury the deceased.

According to Martin Rushegyera, who claims to be the heir of the Rushegyera family, they had organized to bury the deceased near his father’s grave in Rwenjeru, Bushenyi District or in Kashari, Mbabara District, where their mother is resting.

However, the program was allegedly hijacked by powerful relatives on the mother’s side who dictated that the burial would be in Kazo, Kiruhura.

With Nteireho’s body lying in Mulago Hospital morgue, both families turned up to pick the body. With the Bushenyi family represented by Martin Rushegyera while the Kazo family was represented by President Museveni’s younger brother, Michael Nuwagira alias Toyota Museveni together with city businessman Charles Mbire.

Both sides turned up with funeral vans to carry the deceased, while police stayed on alert in case the confrontation got out of hand.

Nuwagira and the group would later emerged victorious, and they were the ones who took the body in the end. Hence burial looks set for Kazo.
