It’s a pleasure joining Lwengo Muslim community at this important function of inaugurating a new Lwengo Muslim District Kadhi Shk. Ismail Ibrahim Kibuule.

I thank you for the invitation extended to me to attend this great occasion.

I congratulate the people of Lwengo upon getting a new District Kadhi.

I thank all Lwengo district Muslim leaders and the organisers of this event for their dedication to organise an event that will see a servant of God take on leadership.

I encourage all of you to accord him necessary cooperation to serve and fulfil his leadership role, for if you do not, he will only be discouraged and this will be leading to demolishing what your own hands have built.

I also take this opportunity to appreciate the efforts of the late Shk. Juma Muheesi, the former Lwengo District Kadhi for the good work of uniting the Muslim community in this area, and mobilising the population towards supporting government programs during his tenure of service.

Government recognises his great contribution to development throughout his term of service.

The new District Kadhi Shk. Ismail Ibrahim Kibuule, you have been ushered into this office by the Grace of God. The trust that the people have in you to further the Muslim cause of spirituality, nurturing God’s people in unity, love and to further the cause of Islamic responsibility to the best of your abilities is the greatest challenge you have in your term of service.

I pray that you will lean of God for wisdom, knowledge, understanding and direction to instruct and fulfil the task ahead of you as God Wills.

I congratulate you once again upon this achievement in your life.

Since time immemorial, the Muslim community in Uganda through faith has invested in development projects allover the country and directly supplemented government efforts aimed at human resource development, especially in the education sector, through projects like construction of hospitals, people centred economic empowerment projects, charitable organisations etc.

Standards of living of Ugandans have improved as a result of the Muslim community contribution.

Government is grateful for the contribution of the Islamic faith to the development of Uganda and I urge you to continue uplifting and improving other services sectors in the country.

I also encourage you to provide counselling to the youth, to nurture them to become useful citizens that will usher our nation to a viable transformation. Our young people should be taught the important values of honesty, human dignity, Godliness, anti-corruption, anti-sectarianism, unity, gender, respect and hard work.

These virtues commanded by the Quran will ensure a good future for our children; a sine qua non for a peaceful and developed nation.

We have a duty to raise a generation who are focused and have vision for this country. Descendants who are after their own selfish interests are confusing many of our young people, who do not know the history of our country, I am glad that Muslim youth have shown the spirit of development and shunned politicking, and I urge them to continue working hard.

The NRM government has introduced the Wealth Creation initiative and all Ugandans are expected to participate in order to alleviate poverty out of our households.

Government has played its mobilisation and supportive role by giving out seeds and seedlings, equipping artisan groups with machines, empowering women groups under the women entrepreneurship as well as skilling the youth.

It is incumbent upon all of us religious leaders, educationists, policy makers, civil society, public and private initiatives, and development stakeholders to work hard towards the goal of eradicating poverty and improving household incomes and be part of national development and peace building.

I hail the Islamic based faith establishment for their contribution to Uganda’s development. Your works are visible and appreciated and I commend the able leadership team under Uganda Muslim Supreme Council; I applaud the good relationship between the Muslims of Uganda with the state and other faiths.

Counting on your support, government will continue to ensure that there is always a peaceful environment that allows freedom of worship.
