Uganda’s under 15 team emerged the winners of the inaugural CECAFA boys championship after beating Kenya 4-0 in the finals played at Asmara international stadium on Friday.
Devis Ogwal headed in the first goal off Shafiki Waswanga’s cross before Travis Mutyaba scored from a free-kick to give Uganda the lead at half time.
At the resumption of the game, Abasi Kyeyune made a double score to stretch the game beyond the reach for Kenyans.
Kyeyune’s first was a header off a pedal work from Carros Kaddu before he martialled past a host of Kenyan players to send a high shot into the right corner for his ninth goal of the tournament and 23rd for Uganda.
The final was presided over by CAF President Ahmad Ahmad and also attended by FUFA 1st Vice President Justus Mugisha who represented the FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo.
Kyeyune won the top scorer accolade whereas Kenya’s Lwangu emerged the best goalkeeper.
Temesgen Tesfay from Eritrea was voted the best player.
