"EC wants to frustrate Bobi Wine," says DP Bloc

The DP block has said that the move by Electoral Commission not to consider the use of national Identification cards as a primary requirement to vote in 2021 is aimed at frustrating Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine's presidential ambitions.

Addressing the media at the DP party headquarters in Kampala, Michael Mabikke a member of DP bloc noted that the Electoral Commission has lost it's independence and mandate by giving Ugandans such kind of information.

He noted that the action of commission indicates that its employees get instructions from President Museveni.

He revealed that DP bloc is preparing its electoral reforms that will soon be presented to the speaker of parliament.

“We want to bring meaningful electoral reforms that are going to guide the Electoral Commission, electoral reforms that are going to ensure that the Electoral Commission is independent,” he said.

He noted that a meeting was held with different political actors in relation to the matter.

He said that there is an effort to bring on board all the opposition forces together in a bid to attain change in 2021.

“ANT agrees, JEEMA agrees, Mr. Bobi Wine agrees, UPC agrees, so this one issue actually unites us all,” he said.

He noted that even though there are some differences among opposition forces in the country, this is the right time to unite.
