Police has started investigations into the allegations of death threats by the State Minister of Investment and Privatization Evelyn Anite.

Last week, Anite said that there was a plan to remove her from the Uganda Telecom Limited battle by bringing to an end her life.

Addressing a weekly news conference on Monday, Police spokesperson Fred Enanga said the minister had already recorded a statement in regards to the matter.

‘’Police is actively pursuing a number of lines of inquiry to help prove or disprove the claim of alleged death threats to her life by alleged perpetrators she has mentioned," Enanga said.

The police mouthpiece said no stone would be left unturned during their investigations being handled by detectives from the Criminal Investigations Directorate in Kibuli.

Enanga however warned the public against what he termed as malicious statements posted by members of the public on social media.

He warned these would cripple investigations.

The police publicist revealed that the minister's security has been beefed up with more officers.

‘’We have increased the presence of the police, both close body and at her residence. We would like to inform her family, members of her constituency and the wider public that she is well protected all round. ‘’

Minister Anite last week revealed that people she identified as mafia are bent on bringing her role in the UTL saga to an end abruptly.

“The plan by the mafia is to take Anite out of the picture, I might die but history will judge them. You know the mafia  are the ones who have been blocking the audit,”Anite told journalists at the Ministry of Finance headquarters.

She, however noted she would not stop fighting to save the telecom or exposing bad characters in government.

“I will die with my mouth open, I will die while shouting the mafias are coming, until they take me down."
