JEEMA preaches unity among opposition forces

The Justice Forum (JEEMA) president, Asuman Basalirwa has called upon all opposition forces in the country to unite a head of 2021.

“It is going to be a very big disservice for Mr. Museveni to be the president of this country after 2021. God forbid and it will not happen that’s why we are working together,” he said.

He made the remarks during the ceremony to unveil the new generational national youth leaders at the party headquarters at Mengo Kampala.

Basalirwa preached the need for unity if the opposition is to cause change in the forth coming elections.

"That redemption, that liberation will not come about through individual efforts. It must come about through muscling collective effort, muscling collective resources,” he noted.

He noted that Uganda is a big country therefore there is need to engage the masses and bring them together towards the common goal of causing change in the country.

“There is need for unity among opposition forces, this can be achieved through different ways in terms of ideas, human resources and financial resources,” he said.

He said the only way to dislodge President Museveni from power come 2021 is when opposition is united.

“The public must be given a single message, we are telling people to get National Identification cards, you must get National IDS and others are saying a ballot cannot get Museveni out power who told you?”he asked.

The National Coordinator for Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu reechoed the need for the opposition not to only focus on ending NRM regime but also to build capacity of changing the political culture of the country.

He said that unity is the only option of liberating this country from the current regime.

“It’s important to have a united opposition, but most people think politics is like betting. No,” he said.
