Otafiire tells Bobi Wine to stop "misusing" the phrase People Power

The minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Maj. Gen. Kahinda Otafiire has cautioned Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine to stop "misleading" the public by using the phrase People Power to deceive Ugandans.

“Bobi Wine is misleading people calling his group People’s Power. People’s Power is derived from ballot box and exercised by LC1 Chairperson and we shall guard that power," he said.

He made the statements while receiving the people from FDC and People Power who allegedly crossed to the National Resistance Movement (NRM) in Kabarole district.

Otafiire noted that the government will not tolerate any person lying to the public noting that people’s power is only attained through elections not by mere words.

“The chairperson derives his or her authority from the ballot box and we shall guard that people's power using the people, army and air force. We shall guard that people's power," he said.

He noted that anybody who thinks that they are exercising authority without being duly elected by the people  will soon get into trouble.
