KCCA FC falls to Namibian side in CAF Champions League

Uganda Premier League defending champions fell on Saturday fell to Nambia’s African Stars in their preliminary round game of the   CAF Champions League played at the San Nujoma Stadium in the capital Windhoek.

The visitors took an early led when Ivan Kamberipa connected himself only 13 minutes after kick off but the home side leveled matters 27 minutes later through a penalty after KCCA FC defender Peter Magambo handled the ball in the 18-yard box for the centre referee to point at the spot kick.

The visitors then took the lead in the 75th minute before Patrick Kaddu leveled matters, five minutes later in the 82nd minute when he tapped the ball into the net from a Sadat Anaku assist.

The visitors were at it again when Yossouf Ibrahim scored his second and the team’s third goal three minutes later for the game to end 3-2.

Speaking shortly after the game, KCCA FC Coach Mike Mutebi said his team conceded silly goals because of carelessness but said this will be rectified before the return leg game.

“We conceded silly goals not that the opposition pressed us. They were at home but I believe we shall change when they come to Kampala,”Mutebi said.

“I hope in the return leg we shall not be as careless as we were.”

KCCA FC will now need a one-nil win to progress to the next round of the CAF Champions League when both teams meet in the return leg match in a fortnight in Kampala.
