Ex M23 combatant hands himself to police over murder of lawyer Ssendegeya in Kisoro
A former combatant of the M23 rebel group has handed himself to police over the murder of a prominent lawyer in Kisoro last month.
Lawyer Isaac Ssendegeya, 39 was shot dead by unknown assailants on the morning of July 21 at the doorway of his house in Nturo village near Kisoro town.

According to Kigezi region police spokesperson , Elly Matte, Charles Munyaneza also known as Seruhasha Saddam,33 handed himself to police in Mbarara on Sunday.
“Charles Munyaneza a. k. a Seruhasha Saddam a male adult aged 33, a Mtutsi by tribe, a Congolese national a former M23 rebel, a refugee and resident of Nakivale Refugees settlement camp in Isingiro district presented himself to Mbarara police station after getting information from the media that he was being suspected to have killed the lawyer,”Matte told the Nile Post.
He said the suspect was later delivered by Mbarara police to their counterparts in Kisoro for interrogation.

The development happened after the arrest of Claude Ndagizimana, 42, also a former M23 rebel fighter who admitted to have participated in the gruesome murder last month.
" He told investigators that that one Scola Nyiramajambere a resident of Bunagana who had a civil suit in court with a client being represented by Ssendegeya is the one who hired the assailants,"Matte said.
According to the regional police mouthpiece, another suspect,Steven Mfitundinda, 29, a Boda Boda rider at Bunagana stage had been arrested and confessed to riding the assassins on the fateful day.
This brings the number of suspects arrested over the murder to seven after Sikola Nyiramajambere, Issah Mvano, Asuman Tito Hahumakwiha all residents of Bungana parish, Muramba Sub- County in Kisoro district were arrested earlier.
Others are Mutesi Eliminate and Hadija Niyijena who had a relationship with the prime suspect that police said was on the run.
It is alleged that there was a civil case in court where the deceased had represented one Migyera as his defence lawyer.
Migyera won the case.
According to Maate, the suspects used threatening words on the deceased lawyer after the judgment was delivered in his client’s favour
President Museveni last week visited the deceased's family and assured them suspects will be brought to book .
