The national coordinator for Alliance for National Transformation (ANT) Maj. Gen.Mugisha Muntu has officially opened the three days induction training aimed at sensitising members of its women league to create more advocates for political change and encouraging more women to join politics.
The three days induction training started on Tuesday at Namugongo.
“Whatever you are doing continue doing it, we must change that mindset. Whenever you succeed to change that culture then the politics will change,”he said.
Muntu noted the failure to prepare political leaders could cost the country heavily since most political leaders are not trained and lack the necessary skills to perform their duties.
He noted the initiative is aimed at educating all the women in country that Uganda is going to be built by Ugandans.
He said women should be aware of all the issues their fellow women are facing across the country and be able to aggressively address such issues.
He noted that the training is also to educate women about their rights and also how start income generating projects.
Alice Alaso in charge of Finance noted that most politicians get into leadership and occupy political space without any training.
“We politicians get into leadership and occupy political space without any basic training unlike other disciplines,” she said.
She noted that the skills and the knowledge women will get from the training will help them to empower other women in their respective areas.
