Twenty three out of the summoned 30 players participated in Monday’s training as they await seven others that are with the 2019 CECAFA Kagame Cup winners, KCCA FC, who will join the rest of the team on Tuesday.
According to Assistant Coach, Livingstone Mbabazi, the team is progressing steadily.
“The team is progressing so well. We ought to respect Somalia because they have been in camp for over two years preparing for this game,” Mbabazi said.
He added, “we expect the KCCA FC players to join the rest of the squad on Tuesday, a day on which we shall have morning and evening training sessions, before holding a friendly with Proline FC on Wednesday morning. We’ll depart to Djibouti that evening.”
Team Captain, Timothy Awany, says the players are gelling well.
“We as players are set, eight days in camp have helped us get to know each other well,” Awany said, before adding, “we don’t want to underestimate Somalia, we are ready for them and we shall go to win”
The Cranes fell to Namibia in Group B to exit the CHAN 2018 in Morocco, with a game to spare. They will be hoping to reach the finals and progress from the group stages this time around.
