Muzaata attacks Museveni, Mubajje over muslim disunity

MUHAMAD MATOVU

Controversial cleric Sheik Nuhu Muzaata Batte has said the call for unity by the Mufti of Uganda Sheik Ramadhan Mubajje is hollow because there is a lot of dishonesty among some muslims.

“Unity is not possible among Muslims more especially with people who are selling and sealing our property, those who are not ashamed of their wrong doings, and those who have sold all the Muslims properties,"he said.

Muzaata said, it’s impossible to foster unity among Muslims in Uganda more especially if those accused of causing division among Muslims are still holding their respective leadership positions.

He noted that Muslims are only interested in the return of their property but not interested in Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) leadership.

He noted that there is need for a new generation of young, educated, global and energetic muslims to take over the leadership of the muslim fraternity if unity is to be fostered among Muslims in Uganda.

He said Mubajje is the cause of disunity among Muslims in Uganda.

He also accused President Museveni of gearing disunity among Muslims in Uganda by choosing to work with Uganda Muslim Supreme Council.

He expressed his concern that the leadership of UMSC is getting extra support from the government in order to maintain their respective leadership positions.

“Do you think we can’t dislodge him from that office? We can mobilise all the Muslims in the country and get him out .But they have protection from external forces, that’s why we can’t do anything," he noted.

He noted that president Museveni who would have helped in fostering unity among Muslims,He is busy offering protection to only one faction.

“We just hear of the president's representatives like those of Nadduli when attending the swearing in ceremonies of regional Khadis, donating money...meaning that he is not ready to mediate and foster unity among Muslims in the country," Muzaata said.
