Uganda’s Dixon ‘Bond’ Okello to take charge of security during Afcon finals

Despite Uganda’s early exit from the 2019 African Nations Cup tournament, they will still be represented at finals later this week.

On Thursday, Uganda’s security expert Dixon ‘Bond’ Okello was named among the men to be in charge of security during the African Nations Cup final on Friday.

On Friday, Sadio Mane’s Senegal will clash with Riyadh Mahrez’s Algeria in an epic final to be played at the Cairo International stadium.

In a list released by the continent football governing body, CAF, the no-nonsense events guru has been appointed to be in charge of security during the final game.

He has been in charge of security for a number of games during the 2019 African Nations Cup in Egypt and he will now climax the tournament with another gig during the finals.

Other people listed by CAF to take charge of the game include Alioum Alioum from Cameroon who will be the center referee to replace South Africa’s Victor Gomes and assisted by Evarist Menkounde and Elivs Guy Noupue , both from Cameroon whereas Eric Arnaud Otogo Castane from Gabon will be the fourth official.

Millot Benoit from France will be in charge of the Video Assistant Referee and will be assisted by Bakary Papa Gassana from the Gambia.

This year’s Afcon tournament is the first for the expanded 24-team away from the 16 –team format.

The 2019 tournament is the first to be played in June away from the January format.
