President Museveni heads to Nairobi for COMESA summit

President Yoweri Musevani has arrived in the Kenyan Capital Nairobi to attend the Source 21 COMESA International Trade Fair and High Level business summit at the invitation of his Kenyan counterpart President Uhuru Kenyatta. The 3rd Kenya Trade Week and Exposition 2019 are hosting the fair under the theme, “Powering Regional Integration'.

The President was received at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport this evening by the Kenyan Cabinet Secretary for Industrialisation Hon. Aden Mohamed, Uganda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Hon. Sam Kutesa, Uganda's Deputy High Commissioner to Kenya Mr. Nathan Ndoboli, the Consular General in Mombasa Mr. Katurebe Tayebwa, together with other Senior High Commission Officials.

The COMESA International Trade Fair and High Level Business Summit, that opens at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre tomorrow the 17th of July, will also have Heads of State including H.E Paramasivum Pillay Vyapoory, President of the Republic of Mauritius, H.E Edgar Lungu, President of Zambia,, President Yoweri Museveni and host President Uhuru Kenya address a Presidential Public-Private Roundtable on setting the tone on the CFTA opportunities for Africa, the future of COMESA, TFTA and AfCFTA, engage and interface with regional business leaders and entrepreneurs attending the COMESA Trade and Business Summit.

The five-day trade expo that has attracted entrepreneurs, industrialists and manufacturers from the COMESA sub-region, is being conducted by the COMESA Business Council in partnership with Export Promotion Agencies and Private Sector Associations of the 21 COMESA member states, together with the Kenya Association of Manufacturers.  It is aimed at promoting manufacturers' competitiveness, value addition for quality industrial output, and advancing cross border trade and inter business linkages among members of the COMESA Economic block.
