The security guard was first brought to court in a dire situation including vomiting prompting the magistrate to order police to first take him to hospital for treatment.

He was later returned to the dock and charges read to him and remanded.

A few of his relatives were at court before he was driven off to Luzira.

Fatal Shooting

Mugisha, was the proprietor of Kololo-based Hickory Bar and Restaurant but according to various accounts, the deceased together with colleagues entered an argument with a security guard at Quality Supermarket in Naalya on Tuesday morning.

Following the incident, another security guard is said to have reprimanded the group but they were not willing to take it in even after scratching another car, they refused to settle the matter amicably.

Police said Mugisha later started the car, crushing a security guard’s leg which infuriated his colleague who shot at the car shooting him in the mouth.

The businessman died on his way to hospital.

The deceased’s father, Plan Mugisha told mourners at All Saints Cathedral in Nakasero on Wednesday that his son’s death can only be attributed to tribalism.

“My son was killed because of tribalism. I believe my son was shot because he is a Munyankore. Arnold did not even know he is a Munyankore because the language he speaks is Luganda. The man who shot him is not the one who quarreled with him,” Mugisha said.
