The Uganda Vintage and classic Auto show in conjunction with CBA are set to unleash the 8th edition of the vintage and classic auto show scheduled for 27th July 2019 at Sheraton Hotel.

While addressing a presser at Sheraton Hotel on Tuesday, the Chairman Uganda Vintage and Classic Auto show Dr. John Niwagaba says that the event is going to be a family event and in this 8th edition, will have 27 different categories with 27 winners.

Dr Niwagaba speaking about the upcoming car show

For a car to count as vintage, it should have exceeded 25years of existence and according to Dr.  Niwagaba, the cars that will be exhibited on the auto will have to start from the year 1994 and below.

"We are going to make collectables such as radios, televisions and many others part of the show since we want to make the show bigger and better every year that passes by. The best collectable is going to be awarded courtsey of Liquid Telecom." Dr.  Niwagaba said.

The event will start on 26th July with competing cars meeting at Shell Bugolobi whereby they will be fuelled and then flagged off in a snail trail to Sheraton. Judgment will take roughly 6-8 hours and it will be conducted on the interior, exterior and mechanical condition of the car where by a score out of 100 will be awarded from which a winner will be gotten.

The faces behind the show

The Chief Executive Officer  CBA Anthony Ndegwa says the theme for this year being love for machines, it represents the passion the car owners have for their cars and thus as CBA, our intention is to motivate the car owners and that is why we cashed in 10 million Ugandan shillings on the first three winners in the 7th edition. The practice of awarding the winners is to give encouragement to those car owners with their cars staged somewhere to bring their cars in this year's event and stand a chance to win.

"This is indeed a regional event and it helps us as UBA to showcase our country Uganda. Winners of this vintage event will have to participate in an auto event in Kenya and let's pray that we win it. “Ndegwa said.

The event is to be graced by entertainment from the famous Afrigo band and the first two winners will be awarded with business class tickets courtesy of Rwanda air, cash prizes by CBA and more goodies by liquid Telecom.

The tickets are already on Quicket and some will be accessed at the entrance with adults going for Ugshs 25,000 and Ugshs 10,000 for children. The event will start at 10am till late with children being entertained in their play area with gaming competitions courtesy of Liquid Telecom.
