Police looking to recruit 5000 personnel ahead of 2021 elections

The Uganda Police Force has announced that it will recruit 5000 qualified Ugandans specifically as Probational Police Constables (4500) and Learner Assistant Inspectors of Police (500).

The new recruits will be part of police efforts to fight the ongoing crime wave that has gripped Kampala and Wakiso districts. The recruits will also ensure the 2021 general elections are smoothly conducted.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Polly Namaye says the Uganda Police Force is looking forward to recruit suitably qualified Ugandan applicants aged 18-25 years who should be ready to undertake basic training of 12 months.

“We have lowered recruitment requirements for the rank of Probational Police Constable from Uganda advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) to Uganda Certificate Education (UCE) with at least 5 credit points including English and Mathematics or its equivalent in case it is certified by UNEB since there are 4500 open vacancies for the position and police has noted that there are very many committed Ugandans who stopped in Senior Four and are currently unemployed.” ACP Namaye explains.

The process has already kicked off and interested citizens are invited to prepare requirements such as handwritten application letters, passport photos and photo copies of other useful documents which should be delivered by the individual applicant to the recruiting team at the respective recruitment sites as per the schedule.

“In regard to the Learner Assistant Inspectors of Police, the Uganda Police Force is looking forward to recruit 500 applicants who must possess diplomas in relevant science fields such as clinical Medicine, Mechanical Engineering and Automotive Engineering among others.” ACP Namaye adds.

As the police has witnessed certain applicants presenting forged papers in the past, the security body has promised to arrest and present the perpetrators into the courts of law for judgment when it comes to the matter of impersonation and forged documents.
