Man shot by guard for scratching car at Quality supermarket parking, guard mobbed

The proprietor of Kololo-based Hickory Bar and Restaurant, a one Arnold Mugisha was Tuesday morning shot dead at Quality Shopping village in Naalya, by a security guard attached to Saracen security company, after he reportedly scratched another car with a shopping trolley.

The incident happened at 10:30am after Mugisha and a colleague got involved in an altercation with the guard. It is reported that Mugisha while riding the trolley to his car, scratched another car in the parking lot.

The security guard on seeing this, summoned Mugisha and confronted him leading to a heated argument. The guard then walked away, only to return with his gun, shooting Mugisha dead.

Following Mugisha’s death, the security guard attempted to flee but was intercepted by a mob who pummelled him to death. Both bodies are at Mulago hospital pending post-mortems.

Nile Post contacted Hickory Bar and Restaurant management and they confirmed the death of their proprietor.

“Yes, he has been shot dead this morning. But we have not yet seen the body and we can not elaborate the circumstances under which he was shot,” one of the managers at the facility told Nile Post on condition of anonymity.

Hickory Bar and Restaurant is an upmarket eating joint located in Kololo.

Eyewitnesses claim that Mugisha was coming from the gym with his brother and they decided to buy some consumables at the supermarket.

In November 2016, Joseph Kanyamunyu, travelling with his girlfriend Cynthia Munywangari allegedly shot Kenneth Akena at Lugogo after the latter reportedly scratched the couple’s car.
