ISO boss Kaka says security still has long way to fight criminality but will succeed

The Internal Security Organisation Director General, Col.Kaka Bagyenda has said security still has a long way to go in as far as fighting criminality is concerned but said they will with time be at the top of the game.

There have been a number of incidents in which a number of people especially mobile money dealers have been killed and huge sums of money stolen prompting security heads to scratch their heads about the same.

The latest incident was one that happened along Balintuma road in Lubaga division in which a mobile money agent was killed.

Speaking to the Nile Post on Saturday, Kaka said security still has a big of neutralizing the wrong elements that he termed as Kawukuumi in government departments and society that he said are behind the wave of criminality.

“We have kawukuumi in security, businessmen, civil service and everywhere but we are trying to eliminate it,”Col.Kaka said on Saturday afternoon.

He said that some of the people behind the criminality are doing it for political reasons but noted with time, they will be apprehended.

“Some of it (criminality) has a political connection after being fanned by some political actors to make the country ungovernable but I can assure them it is going to boomerang.”

Leads

The ISO chief explained that despite still having a big task of bringing to an end the current wave of criminality, they have leads pointing the people behind it and that soon they would be unveiled.

“It is suffice to say we have an idea of who is behind these plots. This simply means our system of intelligence is paying off. We are close to getting the main players.”

“We don’t want to arrest the small fish but the big ones and we shall get valuable information of who is behind the criminality.”

He admitted that security has infiltrated the criminal gangs behind the criminality but noted slowly by slowly, they would be neutralized after establishing the big dogs behind the scheme.

“We still have a long way to go but it is soon going to be history. Some of you who re day dreaming will be surprised,”Col.Kaka said.

Incidents

Last month there was an attack in which six thugs armed with guns and riding on three motorcycles raided Cheap hardware in Nansana killing three people including one of the managers and left others injured.

They would later rob the hardware shop of an unspecified sum of money.
