The millennial problem

QITUI

Naye the millennial generation of entertainers is absolutely bogus; music is just about bums, show hosts forcing accents... Yes, I'm a millennial and yes I'm an entertainer... But yes, I agree with the baby boomers! We are rubbish.

Looking at the trend, not just in the entertainment industry, there's a conspicuous disparity between the quality and standards for millennials and those of the preceding generation.

In English, if you're one to complain about the horrible music, lyrics, work ethic of this generation, you're absolutely right.

That said (and hopefully understood)... You are actually to blame. For example; the music is only about sex, money and violence... but wait, so was Tupac's!

The best radio presenters for instance; were seasoned by the best international sensations of their time which is more than anyone can say for the current generation of radio presenters.

This, mostly because the aforementioned best radio presenters then set the worst examples and made themselves aloof and unaccessible, 'anti celebs'.

We can't blame the bad child for what they didn't learn, only the bad parent for what they didn't teach. It's therefore safe to conclude that the Millennial Problem is a baby boomer failure.

As a millennial, I've had the blessing of being close to many icons that came before my time.

Countless times, they have made more notice of where I've failed to emulate than they have an effort to teach me.

Often times, when I made a personal effort to learn, they were threatened by the fear of being replaced and tried to kick me off the ladder.

And my story speaks for so many like me. Not to say there aren't those who taught, but they're so few, it barely makes a difference. The number of those that front their criticism however...

Moral: You learned right but taught wrong, like a parent who was caned and refuses to cane discipline into their child because it was painful for them...

As a spoilt brat is a result of bad parenting, so is the millennial problem a result of baby boomers! So stop complaining about your spoilt brat and try to fix what's bent before it's broken!

And when it's our turn to teach generation Z, let's hope we'll teach right and not shake our heads and cry 'where is the world headed!'.
