Is Fresh Kid's father just greedy or a caring parent?

Singer Patrick Ssenyonjo alias Fresh Kid’s trip to Dubai for concerts with the Ugandan community hangs in balance after his father and manager disagreed on who should travel with the singer.

Fresh Kid’s trip is scheduled for July 7, but only two tickets were sent with the singer’s invite; One for the manager and another for the singer.

All seemed to be smooth until Fresh Kid's father, Paul Mutabazi ruined the preparations claiming that he too needed to travel with the singer (his son).

According to Fresh Kid's manager Francis Kamoga, the promoter of the show in Dubai is more that willing to take the father along with the singer and the manager but the the fans in Dubai warned him not to bring the father along or else they will boycott the show.

The Nile Post understands that fans in Dubai vowed to boycott the show if Fresh Kid's father comes along.

Sources told this website that they believe that the father is holding his son hostage and only wants to eat his money.

In an interview with NBS Television's popular entertainment bulletin; 'UNCUT', the father said that if the promoter can not secure three tickets for them then he will cancel the trip as his son can not travel without him.

The father said that his son, Fresh Kid, has to be monitored like any other child at his age and he will have to move with him wherever he goes.

"My son is a living example to many people and children of his age. He has to be monitored like any other child. If Fresh Kid was yours, aged seven, and you wanted to help him grow what would you have done different?" Mutabazi asked.

He added: "I don't want people to take this in a bad way. The promoter should get us three tickets or else we stop this. Fresh kid will get other chance."

However, the Dubai trip is not the only one at stake. Fresh Kid was also expected to make an appearance in the United States Of America and a collaboration with South African infant deejay; Deejay Arch Junior.

All this now hangs in balance as the father, despite calls for him to lie low and let Fresh Kid to prosper, has insisted that he either travels with his son or no one goes.

The mother, Madrine Namata said that she has nothing to do if the father has decided to do things this way.

Fresh Kid's manager, Kamoga said that he said an MOU with Fresh Kid's parents and that was meant to protect the child's career to see that he grows progressively but all this is only going to undermine his efforts.

He said: "I have done my part. What they are doing is only going to affect Fresh Kid. I will write to the promoter in Dubai and tell him that we cancel the show if that is what they want. What the father is doing is going to bury his son's career."

But with Fresh Kid's star currently shining at its brightest, it will be unfortunate if it is his very parents to dim its light.

His father claims that he has to exploit the opportunity that has availed itself through his son. He says that Fresh Kid is now a national concern and Ministry of Gender tasked him to monitor his son and this included moving with him wherever he goes.

But is this concern as a parent or greed? That's yours to answer.

Tamale Morning weighs in

Former Presidential press secretary Tamale Mirundi said all this will have an impact on Fresh Kid as he grows because his brain is being overwhelmed by all these scandals.

"Mutabazi might not even be his father. When you see a unique child in your family, you must be careful because he might not be yours. Fresh Kid is unique," Tamale Mirundi said.

Fresh Kid came to the limelight this year after successfully miming rap songs belonging to another artiste- Fik Fameika.

He would soon record his own songs and then start touring different media houses for interviews as well as be hosted at different events.

Ruparelia Group would later pick an interest in the singer and offered him a scholarship at Kampala Parents School, an elite primary school that could allow him to attend to his career while not dropping academics.
