Mauritius firm buys Metroplex Mall in Naalya

Knight Frank Uganda has announced sale of Metroplex shopping mall, Naalya, to Gateway Delta, a Mauritius based property development company.

The revelation was made on Tuesday, by Knight Frank Director for Retail Marc du Toit, at a Press Conference held at Golden Tulip Hotel, in Kampala.

“Gateway Delta has purchased Metroplex Shopping Mall as a redevelopment opportunity.

The major redevelopment of the Metroplex Shopping Mall in the middle-class neighbourhood of Naalya, will commence shortly with the intended reopening of all phases of the development in April 2020”, said du Toit.

He said the Mall, which is marketed and managed my Knight Frank Uganda, is undergoing a redevelopment that is set to positively impact on the retail landscape, of not only the primary catchment areas of Naalya, Kiwatule and Namugongo; but greater Kampala as well.

“Metroplex Shopping Mall is now owned by Gateway Delta, a private real estate development company with a permanent capital structure resident in Mauritius. With a gross lettable area of 13,000 sq. meters, the shopping mall will be the primary shopping, dining and entertainment hub within its primary and secondary catchment area”, he added.

Pumi Lukhele, Gateway Delta Development Manager, said the unique feature of Metroplex Shopping Mall redevelopment project; is that the French based supermarket, Carrefour, will open a hypermarket store at the mall in February 2020.

“In addition to this, the mall will host diverse leisure and entertainment offerings, excellent grocery stores, daily shopping services, cafés and restaurants and a diverse array of fashion stores among others”, she said.
