VIDEO: Mutebile incompetent, should retire- FDC

The opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party has said that until the governor of Central Bank, Emmanuel Mutebile is retired from his role, the scandal tainted institution will continue disgracing the nation.

The party through their spokesperson, and legislator Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda allege that Mutebile is far incompetent, reason why he has allowed scandal after scandal to eat through the bank.

“Until you have retired Mutebile in public interest, strengthen management of the central bank, there will be one problem after another. As you solve this one, another will emerge,” Ssemujju said.

Ssemujju claims that such scandals are proof that the governor is no longer capable and his continued stay at the Central bank puts the economy at stake.

The Central Bank was recently facing the COSASE committee in parliament for reportedly selling seven banks illegally.

The seven are: Teffe, Greenland Bank; formerly owned by the late Sulaiman Kigundu, National Bank of Commerce (NBC), formerly owned by tycoon Amos Nzeyi, former Prime Minister AmamaMbabazi, among others, International Bank, formerly owned by the Emma Kato family, Cooperative Bank, Global Trust Bank, and Crane Bank.

However, before the cloud cleared, the same bank is reported to have used a chattered plane bringing in printed money, to carry taxable goods for other businessmen.

Other reports claim the bank printed additional notes besides the sanctioned Shs90b and could have used the same plane to carry the same.
