Man dressed like police officer impounds motorcycles, sells each at Shs100,000
Police has arrested a man for posing like a police officer to impound and later sell motorcycles from unsuspecting riders.
According to Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, ASP Luke Owoyesigyire, Fauswali Isabirye together with Moses Tukesiye targeted unsuspecting boda boda riders.

“They would stage operations in which they would impound several motorcycles and later tell the riders to find them at the nearby police stations,”Owoyesigyire said.
He said that on reaching the nearby police stations, the motorcycles are nowhere to be seen because the suspects had disappeared with them.
It is said that when boda boda riders complained, Police took keen interest in the matter before arresting the duo.
“After complaints, his image was put in our CCTV system which detected him on site on Monday and alerted our officers in the control room who in return informed officers on ground who arrested him.”
On interrogation, Isabirye told officers that they have been selling the motorcycles for Shs100,000 each to unsuspecting buyers.
A brand new motorcycle goes for over three million shillings whereas a used one could go for not less than one million shillings.
“He is currently detained at Old Kampala police station after being charged with theft and impersonation. He will soon be arraigned before court,”Owoyesigyire.
The police mouthpiece underscored the use of CCTV cameras in fighting criminality around the country.
A total of 5,552 CCTV cameras are set to be installed in various places around the country with the Kampala Metropolitan districts of Wakiso, Kampala and Mukono taking a lion’s share with 3233 cameras on 1248 sites.
