Harrowing final selfie shows tragic lovers posing with guns moments before shooting each other dead in suicide pact

The shocking images were taken in the village of Lilasar in northern India by Bhanwarlal Mundhan, 23, and his girlfriend, who has not been named in reports.

Local media report the pair had been in love for several years but that the girlfriend had married another man two months ago.

She had arrived at Mundhan's village 10 days previous to the suicide and the pair are believed to have gone to an area of farmland and drunk beer on the fatal day.

Mundhan reportedly uploaded fifteen photos, six videos and three audio clips to social media in the early hours of the morning.

Some of the photos show the pair pointing guns at each other's head as they look at the camera.

Local media report Mundhan asked the police not to "trouble" anybody during their investigation as it was their own decision to commit suicide. in one of the audio clips.

He also reportedly rang his brother and told his sibling he and his girlfriend were killing themselves.

They are then said to have shot each other before his brother could warn the authorities and find them.

The bodies were found the next morning along with two pistols, water bottles and beer bottles, according to reports.

An image taken from the scene shows the pair lying on the ground with blood pouring from the woman's head next to a bottle of water and a bottle of beer.

A team of officials led by local police superintendent Rashi Dogra Dudi visited the scene and launched an investigation into the incident.

A post-mortem report states that both victims died of bullet wounds to the head.

The investigation into the case is ongoing.
