Two BoU officials charged in Anti-Corruption Court

As the scandal at Bank of Uganda takes on new shapes and proportions, two officials at the bank were today arraigned before the Anti-Corruption Court in Kampala.

The two are: Francis Kakeeto, a branch manager and his assistant, Fred Wanyama and are accused of abuse of office and corruption.

While the details of the case are still scanty, the two were supposed to ensure the safety of Bank of Uganda currency consignment and ensure that everything goes according to procedure.

Investigators however say some extra cargo found its way on the chartered plane that was carrying printed currency and believe the two could help provide.

The two pleaded not guilty.
