Museveni confirms 800 Police cadets as full serving officers
President Museveni has finally confirmed a total of 859 police officers who were passed out in the previous police pass out.
Over 4000 officers who included police cadets and Probation Police Constables were passed out in 2015 at the Police Training School in Kabalye, Masindi district but up to date had never been confirmed and recognized as fully serving officers of the Uganda Police Force.

They had to undergo at most two years of probation.
However, in a message to all police directors, police units and heads of department of the Uganda Police Force, the police cadets at the rank of Assistant Superintendent of Police have been confirmed as full serving officers.
“The appointing authority(President)confirmed in service the following C/ASPs as Assistant Superintendent of Police with effect from the due dates of their first appointments,” reads in part the police message.
“Confirmation letters are on the way.”
In 2017, a whistle-blower wrote to the Inspectorate General of Government asking for investigations into the academic documents for some of the cadets which were alleged to have been forged.
The latest development means the group is now fully recognized as serving police officers (civil servants) and can now be promoted to higher ranks.
In the same vein, they can have their salaries increased but at the same time, they don’t get any benefits including promotion in case they quit their jobs.
They can now hold offices unlike before when they were only deployed at police posts.
The white flaps on either side of their shirts will now be replaced with black ones.
However, over 3000 Special Police Constables who were passed out at the same time have not been confirmed by the President and it is expected that they too will be confirmed soon.
