MTN bankrolls Miss Uganda 2019 beauty pageant

Telecom giant MTN Uganda has officially announced that it will be a major sponsor for the Miss Uganda 2019 beauty contest.

Over the one-month period of the country's most anticipated beauty pageant, MTN will invest in financial and marketing support.

While making the announcement at a press statement held the Nyonyi Gardens MTN offices yesterday afternoon, Hellen Kirungi, the MTN Youth Segment Manager said that: "As a brand that is keen on supporting the youth in a special way, MTN Uganda is happy to be the main official sponsor of the Miss Uganda 2019 beauty contest. Youth are passionate about fashion and this is a major driver for our youth segment MTN pulse. Therefore, supporting the Miss Uganda pageant will enable us to reach out to the youth in way that endears them to something they are passionate about,"

Kirungi also noted that the sponsorship will enable the Miss Uganda Foundation to leverage MTN Foundation given their similar course of focus - Maternal and girl child health.

This is the second Miss Uganda edition after its revamp under new management, Kezi Entertainment, the Franchise holder and Talent Africa, the event organiser.

The month long pageant that kicks off this weekend will see MTN Uganda as main and only telecom sponsor participate in a series of activities leading to the crowning of the Miss Uganda 2019 on Friday 26th July in Kampala.

Up to 2,000 guests will be hosted to the grand finale that will be graced by Miss Vanessa Ponce de Leon, the reigning Miss World 2018.
