Kawuma concedes defeat, throws weight behind Frank Musisi for UNAA Presidency

Uganda North America Association (UNAA) outcast, Daniel Kawuma has finally withdrawn his guts in the coercive push to have the Association’s management reinstate him in the Presidential race for the upcoming elections in Chicago, USA.

Kawuma now claims he will channel his efforts in supporting the agenda and candidature of Frank Musisi, who is one of those in left in the race, and a former President of this association of Ugandans in the diaspora.

Kawuma was spat out of the race after the Board of Trustees and the Electoral Commission found his membership wanting. The association management citing the constitution chose to do away with Kawuma following a recent battle in which he sued the association for denying his presidential victory which resulted from online polls at the backdrop of a heavily contested election in Miami, which Kawuma lost.

Kawuma however bounced back in online polls that were held controversially, with a sweeping victory. He was sworn in via Skype in a ceremony attended by trickle of his supporters but his dreams were quelled when a court ruling declared he was not the president.

The circumstances informed the decision by UNAA executive to ban Kawuma from the members with right to compete for political posts in the Association. However, Kawuma was not willing to relinquish, pushing them to have him reinstated in vain.

With his options out and done, Kawuma has chosen to jump onto the candidacy of Musisi whom he claims shares the same agenda.

‘I’m endorsing without reservations Major Frank Musisi to lead TeamKawuma in the next elections in Chicago. I will continue working with the team in a supportive role until we get to the finishing line. I appeal to our supporters to turn up in large numbers and make your voices heard with your vote in Chicago. I share your frustration and disgust with the corruption and unprofessional conduct of the UNAA Electoral Commission and UNAA leadership but we can’t let such actions detract us from our overall mission to empower and fight for our community.”

“I will continue to demand answers and seek accountability to make sure this level of corruption and lawlessness does not become the norm in our community. As a Diaspora we should be setting a better precedent towards upholding bylaws, acting with integrity and exercising democratic principles in our community. However, the team is now focused on winning the upcoming elections in Chicago and we have assembled great leaders that will deliver for the community. I’m 100% behind Major Frank Musisi and he has made a commitment to deliver on all of our agenda for the community,” he added.
