Uganda, Kenya to sign MoU on illegal possession of guns, pastoralism

Officials from Uganda and Kenya are set to sign a memorandum of understanding aimed at ridding the Karamoja and Turkana region of illegal possession of guns.
The MoU is aimed at closing the gap between the two neighbouring countries pastoralists’ communities to share resources, free trade also to stop illegal possession of guns for an existence free conflicts border.
Rose Malango, the United Nations Development Programme representative for Uganda disclosed this during the closure of a three-day meeting that was held in Entebbe between the Kenyan- Ugandan officials.
John Byabagambi, the minister of state for Karamoja affairs called for comprehensive discussion and effective implementation of a frame work on key areas of innovations so as to transform Kenya- Karamoja cluster.
Eugene Wamalwa, the cabinet secretary for Kenya revealed that the attorney general of Kenya approved the MOU and that it’s ready to be presented before the cabinet before being signed in June in Moroto region.
