Kirinya Jinja SS to change name to Busoga United F.C

The Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) has approved Kirinya-Jinja SS to officially change their name to Busoga United Football Club.

In the 20th FUFA Executive Committee meeting held on 25th May 2019 in Masaka at Brovad Hotel, chaired by the FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo and attended by all the Executive Members reviewed various matters concerning Governance with FUFA Membership.

In a letter released on 30th April 2019 by the FUFA Chief Executive Officer Mr. Edgar Watson, Among the key decisions taken was the immediate change of Jinja based club Kirinya-Jinja SSS to Busoga United F.C, a decision that was taken by the club about six months ego but had to wait for approval.

The club has currently not released any information in regards to ownership and their next move as the hopefully look forward to finalising paperwork and all related legal works.

Rumours have it that the school management opted to give the club to the community as a way of appreciation towards the community support to the school over the years.

Kirinya-Jinja SSS plays in the top flight of the Startimes Uganda premier League hosting their games at the Mighty Arena at Jinja secondary school in Jinja, they settled for the eighth spot in the sixteen clubs league.

The club was formed in  2012 by Hope Diana Nyago (Jinja Senior Secondary School Headmistress) and Honorable Gume Frederick Ngobi. It featured in Eastern Regional league for one season (2012-2013), defeating Amazon FC (in a game that never ended on pitch due to indiscipline by Amazon FC fans) to qualify for the FUFA big league 2013-2014 season.
