At least 60 gun holders in the Rwenzori sub region have missed the ongoing exercise of registration, marking, validating and cleaning of guns.
Out of the 760 gun holders targeted for registration in Rwenzori sub region in districts of Kabarole ,Bunyangabu, Kyenjojo, Ntoroko, Kamwenge, Bundibugyo and Kyegegwa, 700 had turned up before the closure of the exercise in Fort Portal.
This means that 60 gun holders missed out.
Mugisa Solomon, the Rwenzori West community Liaison officer said those who missed the exercise risk prosecution.
He said those who missed the regional registration exercise will now be required to take their guns to Kampala for the same exercise.
Gun registration, validation, marking and cleaning exercise targets officers from Uganda Police Force, Prisons, private individuals, security groups and officers from the Uganda Wildlife Authority.
The exercise is a presidential directive that seeks to combat crimes resulting from illegal use of fire arms which has become national concern.
