Arua: Pentecostal group to build 320 bed hospital

Rhema medical group together with Agape Sanctuary Ministries International have partnered to construct an 11 storied specialised hospital of 320-bed with a state of art equipment in Arua.
They will also build 30-bed hospitals in Nebbi, Zombo, Koboko, Moyo, Adjumani and Yumbe district and a 60-bed hospital will be constructed in Pakwach to cater for the locals and the community in the oil basin areas.
The construction of the health units which will include a referral hospital in Arua town are all estimated to cost Shs 317bn.
During the groundbreaking ceremony at Rhema hospital Arua site, Geoffrey Mayanja, the Chief Engineer of Agape Sanctuary Ministries said the health facilities are expected to be complete in 36 months’ time and intended to decongest the overwhelmed Arua Referral hospital.
Dr. Ronald Debo, the executive director of Rhema medical group, said the hospital will have state of the art equipment ranging from diagnostic energy, CTMRA for CT scan, ultrasound, X-ray, renal unit (kidney unit) for kidney-related disorders, neurosurgery for head injuries and will use foreign expertise through tele-medical and tel-radiology services.
"Right now the leading cause of death among the young people is head injuries not that we don’t know what to do but we are not equipped to do what we know. We end up referring these patients but some die in the park, others Nakasongola," Dr Debo said.
The Agape Sanctuary Ministries Africa Chief Executive Officer, Archbishop Daniel Mwanga said this is the first project they are undertaking in Africa.
"As a church, we believe that we can not only meet on Sundays but we should also be responsible for the welfare of people. The truth is that people are going to heaven but they are not going tomorrow. They are still where they need to eat and get treatment," he said.
Dr Isaac Atiku, the principal medical officer for the regional blood bank said his area requires about 35,000 units of blood annually to serve a population of more than 3.5 million people but had a challenge when the machine broke down in the process of shifting to a spacious premise.
