Police to politicians: Don't politicise everything

MUHAMAD MATOVU

Police has condemned the practice of some politicians who use funerals and other unfortunate events to do politics instead of consoling those facing hard times.

While addressing the media at the police headquarters in Naguru on Monday, Fred Enanga, the police spokesperson, said it’s ridiculous for politicians to view sad incidents using political lenses.

“We have been observing that some politicians these days they are playing politics with people’s lives. We feel it is quite ridiculous,”he noted.

Reaffirming police mission of serving and protecting Ugandans, Enanga stated that security starts with an individual therefore politicians should get practical by joining hands with the police other than criticising it.

Enanga noted that there is a lot of breakdown in the social fabric in society.

“There is behaviour that indicates that an individual will commit an act of murder at this stage like people who are taking drugs, those who have hearts full of revenge....," he said.

He said politicians should help police to inspire communities and sensitise them against committing crimes.
