28-man squad for Uganda Cranes' Abu Dhabi camp

Sebastien Desabre has named a 28 man squad for the Uganda Cranes training camp in Abu Dhabi as the national team prepares for the 2019 African Cup of Nations finals in Egypt next month.

Both local and foreign-based players have got a fair share in the squad.

The team is expected to fly out on Monday 27th, May 2019 to camp in Abu Dhabi where they will play two friendly games in a training camp to set the pace for the AFCON finals later next month.

Milton Kariisa, Muhammed Shaban and Dennis Iguma have been left out of the squad while players like Kizito Luwagga and Ronald Mukiibi have returned to the squad having missed out last time.

KCCA's Charles Lukwago, although named in the squad, will join the rest of the team later as he is supposed to take part in the COSAFA tournament that will be happening in South Africa.

Five players on this squad will be dropped after the camp to remain with only 23 players that will represent the Uganda Cranes at the AFCON tournament.

Goalkeepers: Denis Onyango (Mamelodi Sundowns), Jamal Salim (Al Hilal), Robert Odongkara (Adama City), Charles Lukwago (KCCA FC).

Defenders: Bevis Mugabi (Yeovil Town), Nicholas Wadada (Azam FC), Awanyi Timothy (KCCA FC), Hassan Wasswa Mawanda (unattached), Ronald Mukiibi (Ostersunds), Murushid Juuko (Simba), Godfrey Walsumbi (unattached), Muleme Isaac ( FK Viktoria Zizkov), Joseph Ochaya (TP Mazembe).

Midfielders: Tadeo Lwanga (Vipers SC), Khalid Aucho (Church Hill Brothers FC), Chrysostom Ntambi Coffee FC), Lumala Abdul (Syrianska FC), Michael Azira (Montreal), Moses Waisswa (Vipers SC), Sadam Juma (KCCA FC), Faruku Miya (HNK Gorica FC), Kizito Luwagga (Shakhter Karagandy), Kateregga Allan ( Maritzburg), Emmanuel Okwi (Simba SC).

Strikers: Patrick Kaddu (KCCA FC), Allan Kyambadde (KCCA FC), Alexis Bakka (Carlstad United), Derrick Nsibambi (Smouha).

This years African Cup of Nations (AFCON) will commence on June 24th, 2019 with the final set for July 19th, 2019 in Egypt.

Uganda was placed in Group A against the hosts of Egypt, DRC and Zimbabwe.
