As efforts to restore peace in the Rwenzori region still remain futile, the state minister for agriculture Christopher Kibanzanga has said that it’s not pangas, guns or hatred that will restore peace.
Rather, he said, it is faith, a pen and a book.
Kibazanga revealed this at a fundraising ceremony for the re-construction of the Seventh Day Adventists’ Church which was demolished during the ADF insurgency.
The function was held in Kikyo parish, Ngamba sub-county, Bughendera county in Bundibugyo district.
The minister said the hospitality of the Seventh Day Adventists gives him relief because it was the first faith to reach Rwenzori sub region.
On issues to do with health Kibazanga said he managed to set up surveillance teams in five border districts of Bundibugyo, Kasese, Ntoroko, Kisoro and Kanungu to report any cases of unusual diseases that may occur.
He said Ebola had ravaged DR Congo therefore Uganda has to be alert.
The Woman MP for Bundibugyo Josephine Babungi implored women and young girls to test for cervical cancer early enough.
She said they will organise health camps in all villages to test people for various diseases.
