The managing director of NWSC Silver Mugisha said parliament approved this funding and they have been working very closely with the ministries of Finance and Water to ensure that it is availed.

Mugisha said the money will be used to develop a mechanism to extract water water from River Kagera and distribute it in Masaka, Isingiro and Mbarara. The project is expected to be completed before the end of 2020.

He said there are other water projects in the pipeline and promised that by 2030, water supply in the country be will be at 100 percent.

Alex Rusangara, the project coordinator in Isingiro district said this will be a dual project whereby the water drawn will be used for agricultural production and for domestic use.
