MUHAMAD MATOVU

Uganda Young Democrats has on Friday endorsed Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi commonly known as Bobi Wine as their flag bearer in the 2021 presidential elections

Addressing the media on Friday, the group’s Secretary General Robert Mugambwa urged all political forces to fight for the common goal of ensuring peaceful transition.

“We believe that unity is the only option, so the Uganda Young Democrats congratulate the young people of Uganda for exerting pressure on the different players on the opposition," he said.

He stated that Ugandans want to see a united opposition.

“So as the Uganda Young Democrats today we endorse honourable Kyagulanyi Robert as our presidential candidate. I repeat we endorse Honourable Kyagulanyi Robert as our presidential candidate in this forth coming elections."

UYD is the youth wing of the Democratic Party which is led by Norbert Mao.

Mao is yet to officially declare whether he will stand for the presidency.

He stated that the pressure exerted has yielded by bringing the two principals Bobi Wine and Kizza Besigye to agree to work together.

“The two principals have realised that they need to work together as team," he stated.

He called upon the young people to continue exerting pressure to see that the regime change happens in the immediate life time.
