Tororo main hospital is in poor state, has two delivery beds

Tororo hospital well-wishers held a charity run towards soliciting funds to save mothers delivering at Tororo government hospital, which is in a dire state.

The hospital has got 6 delivery beds with only two functional yet between 18-20 mothers give birth from there daily.

On our arrival at Tororo main hospital labour suite, we found several mothers who had turned up for delivery stranded with no beds to deliver on since of the only six available delivery beds at the facility, two were

already occupied while four are not functional.

Some of those mothers who had just delivered were seen sleeping down floor with their new born babies.

Grace Atim, the in charge of labour suite at the hospital took us through what she says has caused the mess.

Apart from lack of enough delivery beds, Atim revealed other challenges facing the facility including lack of reliable electricity and water.

It’s this situation that prompted Tororo hospital well-wishers to carry out a charity run to organise a charity run.

Shs 2.5 million was collected from the run.
